4.2. Lamination
1. To remove the lamination ring, disassemble the ROBO-WRIST joint into
its individual components. Observe Figure 2 when doing so.
•
Using a 1.3 mm Allen wrench, unscrew and remove the two M2 x
4 mm Allen head screws secured in the tension ring.
•
Turn the tension ring counter-clockwise and remove it.
•
Remove the two slip rings.
•
Remove the ball joint assembly.
•
Remove the web assembly by pushing it up and out of the lamination
ring.
•
Using a #0 Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the M2 x 3 mm Phillips head
screw and remove the actuating button.
2. Fabricate a laminated forearm socket using the appropriate lamination
form (here ø 43.5 mm).
3. Create a slot for the actuating button.
4. Glue the lamination ring into the forearm socket and let it cure. Make
sure that no adhesive overflows into the ring flange or penetrates into the
recess of the actuating button or into the lamination ring.
Figure 4 illustrates examples of a proper lamination and one that has
been performed incorrectly. In contrast to that on the left side, the one to
the right in the image was not properly performed, as the resin extends
beyond the flange to the actuating button and tension ring and thereby
impedes their movement.
5. The lamination ring can also be bonded in the socket as an alternative
to lamination. This requires that a lamination dummy with a diameter
of 44 mm be produced, used as a place holder during lamination and
removed after curing. (The lamination dummy can be produced by turning
the 743Y42=45 lamination form to the desired dimension.) The lamination
ring can then be glued in and the wrist joint reassembled.
