2 Handling
2.1 Fabrication of the plaster model
The special construction makes it necessary to ensure that the plaster cast is prepared with a
slight outer foot position. For better positioning of the carbon fiber spring under the foot, a slight
heel elevation of approx. 15-20 mm can be provided in the plaster cast (see sketch 4). The en-
closed template may be used for the sagittal positioning of the lower leg (small template for sizes
10-12).The flexion cutout will be added to this afterwards. The flexion cutout runs flat and parallel
to the walking direction, while the outer foot position is recognizable (fig. 6).
2.2 Installation of carbon fiber spring using thermoplastic technique:
Pull layer of perlon stockinette over the plaster
model and fabricate Pedilin insert (617S3=W5).
INFORMATION
A material thickness of 5 mm can be used for
all size models.
Please subdivide the model into two parts to
determine the fixed area and the movement area
for the carbon fiber spring. Measure the distance
from the medial tibial plateau to the floor and
mark the middle (see sketch 3).
Trace the carbon fiber spring on the bottom of
the foot. The length of the carbon fiber spring
extends up to approx. 20 mm in front of the roll-
over area when viewed from the calcaneus.
Then determine the calf length of the carbon
fiber spring. The end of the carbon fiber spring
reaches up to 20 mm below the flexion cutout.
