To Add a Group:
A)
Open the groups file with a text editor.
Use a text editor program such as Notepad.
B)
Add the appropriate groupname(s) and username(s) to the file.
Example:
encoders:encoder1 encoder2
players:player1 player2
C)
Save the file as plain text without formatting.
To Delete a User from a User or Group File:
A)
Open the user file with a text editor.
Use a text editor program such as Notepad.
B)
Delete the username and encrypted passwords line from the user file.
C)
Delete the username from the group file, if used.
Remote Administration
A Perl script controls DSS Remote Administration. By default, and to supply extra
security, DSS Remote Administration does not start automatically on boot. To allow
DSS Remote Administration to be available after any reboot, it is recommended, but
not required, that a Shortcut or Alias be created and placed in the Programs Startup
folder. Without this Shortcut, DSS Remote Administration will be unavailable until
streamingadminserver.pl
is executed manually by double-clicking it.
In other words, create a Shortcut for:
C:\Program Files\Darwin Streaming Server\streamingadminserver.pl
and include it in:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Other Configuration Options
There are several other server configuration options available by editing the
streamingserver.xml
file located in the Darwin Streaming Server root directory.
This file is thoroughly commented.
Use a text editor program such as Notepad.
