Using the internal web pages
7.7.5. VMD (Video Motion Detection)
To be able to use the VMD facilities from this web page:
An ActiveX component supporting video overlays needs to be installed. Also, to use this
component successfully, the internet settings on the machine running the web pages
must be adapted to have the C-54 E accepted as a trusted site and to allow ‘unsafe’
content from a trusted site to be run (see Appendix 2 on installation and on configuration
using Internet Explorer). The ActiveX component is safe to use.
Encoder 2 must be in MPEG-4 mode
, otherwise an error message will be displayed
(figure 7.38).
With VMD enabled, transmitter 3 on Encoder 2 will transmit video to the browsing PC. The
transmitter will be automatically configured with the required IP address and port number,
and will be enabled when the VMD tab is opened (possibly overwriting an existing
connection). The connection is disabled on leaving the VMD tab.
7.7.5.1 Introduction and startup
Video Motion Detection (VMD) enables the user to define a portion or portions of the screen
and to detect picture changes there; these changes could be caused by motion or varying
lighting, for instance. Regions of less interest can be masked, either fully or partly (in terms
of amount of change that will trigger detection).
On calling up the C-54 E VMD page a warning message is displayed (figure 7.39). Click
Yes
to allow the ActiveX control to interact with the other parts of the page. The image will
automatically appear (figure 7.40a). Clicking
Enable VMD
activates the detection process,
generating a VMD alarm on changes in the picture.
