To enjoy Surround mode or Stereo mode
Surround system
Since the TX-SV373/SE350 is equipped with a front amplifier, center amplifier, and a surround amplifier, all Dolby Pro Logic Surround
effects can be produced. When using video cassette tapes, DVD video or video discs that have the DOLBY STEREO or DOLBY SUR-
ROUND trademark, you can enjoy the acoustic atmosphere of a movie theater in your own home. Placement of the surround speakers is
important for optimum sound quality in your room.
For the best results with Dolby Pro Logic Surround, use the test tone to adjust the volume of all speakers to the same level.

Before operating: Be sure to turn on SPEAKERS A when listening to Dolby Pro Logic Surround.
Surround Mode
Each time you press the SURROUND MODE button, the mode will change as shown below.
The selected mode is automatically stored along with the selected source. If the same source
is selected subsequently, the stored mode will be automatically recalled.
Center Mode
Because the Center speaker plays such an important part in Dolby
Pro Logic Surround, three different modes are available for
different speaker sizes.
Select a mode by pressing the CENTER MODE button.
NORMAL: Use this setting for a Center speaker smaller than the
Front left and right speakers.
WIDEBAND: Use this setting for a Center speaker similar to the
Front left and right speakers in size and power.
PHANTOM: Use this setting when a Center speaker is not
present.
Test Tone (Dolby Pro Logic mode only)
Use the test tone to adjust the volume level of each of the speakers
before using Dolby Pro Logic Surround.
The test tone (pink noise) is produced by each speaker in turn so
you can match the volume levels of the Front, Center, and
Surround speakers. The test tone sequence varies depending on the
center mode settings.
Note:
You cannot adjust the subwoofer level while the test tone is
sounding. Refer to “Adjusting the volume level of the subwoofer”
on page 14 for more information.
Delay time
This function is available when you select Dolby Pro Logic or
Hall for Surround mode.
When Dolby Pro Logic is selected:
The delay time parameter compensates for the difference
between the distance from the listening position to the front (or
center) speaker (distance L1) and the distance from the listening
position to the Surround speaker (distance L2). Select 15, 20, or
30ms as the delay time, following the guidelines below:
If the value obtained by deducting L2 from L1 is 3 feet (1m) or
less, select 15ms. If the value is more than 3 feet (1m) but 10 feet
(3m) or less, select 20ms. If the value is more than 10 feet (3m),
select 30ms.
When Hall is selected:
Set the delay time to a larger value if you wish to simulate the
atmosphere or effect of a large hall. If you wish to simulate the
atmosphere of a smaller hall, set the delay time to a smaller
value. Select from 15, 20, 30, 40, and 50ms.
