2.3 - CHOOSING THE POSITION OF THE UNIT
To obtain the best operating performance and prevent faults or hazardous conditions, the position of indoor
unit installation must meet the following requirements:
a.
Do not expose the unit to heat or steam sources (fig. 3).
b.
Make sure that the there is at least 2.4” (60mm) between the unit and the adjacent structures or flam
-
mable materials, both on the right and left side of the unit, and a space of at least 3.2” (80mm) above
the unit (fig. 2).
c.
The height of the unit’s lower edge from the floor should be at least 4” if installed in a low wall application.
If installed for a high wall application, the unit should be at least 3.2” from the ceiling (fig. 2).
d.
The wall where the indoor unit is installed, must be stable, strong and suitable to support the unit’s weight.
e.
It is important to leave room around the unit to allow for easy access to perform unit maintenance.
f.
Nothing should obstruct the air circulation, both on the top of the unit where the return air is (curtains,
plants, furniture) and at the front where the supply air is this could cause air swirls that would inhibit the
operating efficiency of the unit (fig. 3).
g.
Do not spray water or other liquids of any kind directly on the unit (fig. 3).
h.
The unit must not be positioned so that the air flow is directed directly towards nearby people (fig. 3).
i.
Never force the opening of the supply air flap (fig. 3).
j.
Do not place bottles, cans, clothes, flowers or any other object on the return air grille (fig. 3).
k.
Do not install the unit directly on another household appliance (TV, radio, fridge, etc.), or on a heat source
(fig. 3).
The unit must be installed on an outside wall!
After determining the best place for installation as described above, check for the
absence of other structures or systems (beams, piers, pipes, wires, etc.) at the
points where the holes are to be drilled, which would prevent drilling the holes
required to install the unit. Check again to make sure there are no obstacles
to air circulation through the holes to be drilled due to plants and their leaves,
slats or panelling, blinds, gratings or grilles too dense, etc.).
2.4 - UNIT ASSEMBLY
The maximum allowed length of the pipes is 118” (3m), the pipes must be internally smooth, with a diameter
equal to 8” (202mm) or 6.5” (165mm) and bends in the pipe are not permitted.
The installer must use the grilles provided, or 3rd party grills that match the volume and velocity of the original.
2.4.1 - Drilling the wall
Drill two holes either 8” (202mm) or 6.5” (165mm) in diameter in the wall as indicated on the template.
The 8” (202mm) holes will ensure best performance as well as the lowest sound level.

Drill the wall using the proper tools to facilitate your job and prevent excess damage or disturbance to
your wall surfaces, both inside and outside. the best tools for drilling large holes in concrete or brick
walls are special drill bits called core borers with very high twisting torque and adjustable rotating speed
depending on the diameter of the hole to be drilled.
