9.1.2 Testing of VHF radio stations with DSC through external attenuator or
an equivalent load

The given setup uses attenuator of high power level or another equivalent load.
Signal isn’t emitted to antenna or broadcast which allows sending the
DISTRESS
signal.
But anyway this checking must be carried out with precautions to avoid false
distress alert!
Tester automatically detects connected
VHF Power sensor SWR meter
, thus there is
no need to set up configuration in menu:
SETTINGS > Test config
.
Setup allows checking both transmitting and receiving channels. Attenuation from
VHF Power sensor SWR meter input to Tester IN/OUT is 63dB and it’s
automatically taken into account during conductive measurements of power level
of transmitter and during conductive measurements of receiver response level.
* conductive measurements – measurements done by direct connection of equipment by means of
RF-cable.
