receiver. In such cases, the boot code will execute the old image and raise the "Safe Mode" error (see
RXSTATUS
log). If that error is detected, simply restart the SoftLoad process to reload the new firmware image
and the error will be resolved.
11.8 Upgrading Using an Auth-Code
An authorization code (auth-code) enables (unlocks) model features.
An auth-code can be entered using NovAtel Connect, NovAtel Web UI or the command line interface.
11.8.1 Entering an Auth-Code Using NovAtel Connect
1. Obtain the new auth-code from NovAtel Sales or your local NovAtel dealer.
2. Connect a computer to the receiver using a serial (COM) cable, USB cable or Ethernet connection.
3. Start NovAtel Connect on the computer.
4. Use NovAtel Connect to connect to the receiver.
For information about using NovAtel Connect, refer to the help file in NovAtel Connect.
5. Click the
Firmware Update
button.
The Update window appears.
6. Enter the auth-code in the Auth Code text box.
7. Click the
Upload
button.
11.8.2 Entering an Auth-Code Using NovAtel Web UI
1. Obtain the new auth-code from NovAtel Sales or your local NovAtel dealer.
2. Use a Wi-Fi capable device (such as a laptop, tablet or smart phone) to connect to the receiver’s Wi-Fi
access point. The SSID and password for the receiver Wi-Fi are on a label on the receiver.
3. Open a web browser and enter any web address, for example, novatel.com (do not include "https").
4. Click or tap the Cog button.
5. Click or tap the Update button.
6. In the Firmware panel, enter the auth-code in the Auth Code field.
7. Click or tap the
UPLOAD
button. Once upload complete, Web UI automatically returns to the Main Window.
11.8.3 Entering an Auth-Code Using the Command Line
The
AUTH
command is used to enter an auth-code. The upgrade can be performed directly through the NovAtel
Connect command line or from any other communications program.
Refer to
on page 120 for details on updating versus upgrading.
1. Power up the OEM7 receiver and establish communications.
2. Issue the
LOG VERSION
command to verify the current model, firmware version and serial number (refer to
on page 119 for instructions on obtaining).
3. Issue the
AUTH
command, followed by the auth-code and model type (refer to
page 119 for details on obtaining any auth-code). The syntax is as follows:
auth <your auth-code here>
