Startup Operation Procedures

PC Installation Procedure

Required Hardware (minimum)

• Pentium PC with 16 MB of RAM memory and 500 MB of free disk

space

• Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC) for the PC

Required Software (minimum)

DOCSIS LCn Provisioning Server by Bay Networks, Broadband Technol-
ogy Division, and the following:

Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, or Microsoft Windows NT
running its TCP/IP stack, and FTP’s OnNet server with its DHCP and TFTP
servers active.

Install Hardware and Software

Install Microsoft Windows and FTP’s OnNet server following the manufac-
turer’s directions.

Install the Ethernet Card in your PC following the manufacturer’s direc-
tions. Run the diagnostics before proceeding, to ensure that the card is con-
figured properly without any conflicts.

Install Microsoft’s TCP/IP stack following the manufacturer’s directions.

Notes:

• Install LCn Server following the directions in the LCn readme file.

• Configure the LCn server using the server configuration menu provided

(refer to appropriate section of this document).

• Create a TFTP default directory called LCN_DATA.
