Appendix B: Using theNetwork Protection console | Command line configuration
traffic on | off
Enables or disables traffic messages to console.
traffic [n]
Enables display of traffic messages to console up to and including level
n
. 0 for information, 1 for
warning, 2 for error and 3 for virus.
update
Connects to Norman Update system and downloads program updates if necessary. This is run auto-
matically every day and does not need to be run manually.
niu
Starts the Norman Internet Update client to update the scanner engine and definition files. This is run
automatically every day and does not need to be run manually, except when administrator have pur-
posely disabled automatic updates.
bind n
Binds Network Protection to network interface
n
. This creates a thread in Network Protection for col-
lecting network packets from the interface. Network interfaces are indexed from 0. For example, lo=0,
eth0=1, and so on. Show adapters will display the adapters and their assigned index numbers.
unbind n
Unbinds network interface
n
from Network Protection. This stops Network Protection collecting pack-
ets from the interface and terminates the collection thread.
block [ip]
Blocks all network packets to/from the address
