Appendix C: Using Network Protection in port mirror mode | Nonoperative functions
Nonoperative functions
When operating in port mirror mode Network Protection is to be considered a passive device on the
network, and cannot stop or interfere with the data traffic. The functions listed below will not be opera-
tive in this mode.
Scanner settings
● Block mode will not work for any protocol scanner
● Stop malicious code injection on executables over Windows File Sharing
● Block files larger than maximum file size
Network configuration
● Cluster failover will not be available
Custom URL block
● No URL/URI’s can be blocked in port mirror mode
Block and exclude settings
● It is not possible to block IP-address, VLANs or MAC addresses in port mirror mode
