TROUBLESHOOTING (SKYTECH SYSTEM)
Module Error Codes
The Skytech Control Module has built in error code notification. Identifying the audible sequence from the
module will enable a speedy diagnosis.
Ignition Safety -
(1) beep every (1) sec
Reason:
pilot not lit after 60 seconds
Communication Safety -
(1) beep every (4) sec
Reason:
Remote and Module not communicating
properly
Sensor Safety -
(4) beeps every (1) second
Reason:
Pilot sensor detecting existing flame when
ignition initiated
Pilot sensor on main module shorted to
ground
Thermal Safety -
(1) beep every (2) sec
Reason:
Module internal temp exceeds 170
°
Things to check
Ensure gas supply is ON
2-pin wire plug for pilot is secured into the “pilot” connection on
gas valve
Check Igniter lead is secured to “I” terminal on module (clicking
from box may be heard if loose)
Check Flame Sensor lead is secure to “S” terminal on module
(pilot will light but no main burner, pilot goes out after 60 secs)
Error Code
Main control module getting too much heat. Shield or move to
new location
Keep area in front of lower grills clear of clutter to accommodate
air flow
Cool module’s temperature below 160
°
F then cycle remote to
ON to clear code
Ensure remote is within 20ft of module
Ensure remote is not placed on top or inside of a metal enclo-
sure. This can interfere with signal
Confirm batteries in remote are charged
Remote will send a safety signal every 15min, if module does not
receive the signal, it begins a 2hr shut off countdown.
This function is active in both MANUAL and THERMO modes
Check for active pilot flame when gas valve is turned off (is yes
replace valve)
Ensure no debris is touching the sensor
Check for frayed or cut wires / confirm ground
Check for cracked porcelain insulators
Replace pilot assembly
Replace module
To clear the Hand Held remote error codes cycle
on remote to OFF then to ON to attempt fireplace re-start.
Sensor Safety Override
- temporarily override Module Error Shutdown to ignite pilot (Remotes with (-2) model code only)
Press
and
to activate pilot light ignition sequence. Remote must be in OFF mode to activate this
function. The Cont Pilot will flash (#5) on the LCD. Release the buttons to deactivate.
