SECTION 7 MAINTENANCE AND SPARES
7.1 DAILY MAINTENANCE
General cleaning is important for the smooth running of the labeller. Ensure a
cleaning regime is set up and carried out to cover:
•
Conveyor belt
•
Applicator drum and presser pad.
•
Stripper plate.
•
Label feed rollers.
•
Web guideposts, rollers and tensioner.
Check for adhesive & paper deposits on the label feed rollers. If contaminated,
proceed thus:
a) Remove three securing screws at the top of the guard and then carefully ease the guard
upwards taking care not to damage the rollers.
b) Remove spacer and rollers
c) Clean both serrated rollers with acetone or industrial alcohol. Do not soak rollers in
the alcohol otherwise oil will be washed out of the bearings. Put a couple of drops of
light oil on the bearings occasionally.
d) Re-assemble.
Check that neither labels or adhesive have contaminated the web tensioner. If
necessary, release bracket to gain access to the surface of the tensioner. Clean and
replace.
