submerged in the coupling water.

Re-center the transducer head directly over the middle of the transducer well
using the centering ring to assure alignment for accurate readings. Make
sure the transducer surface is entirely in the coupling medium. The
transducer head should be completely coupled with the distilled and
degassed water and there should be no bubbles beneath the radiating head of
the transducer.
Any bubbles beneath the transducer head will create a low
reading.
