Using the System Drives and Bays 5-7

Using the CD-ROM Drive with your NEC Versa

Follow these steps to connect to and use the external 24X CD-ROM drive with your
NEC Versa FX notebook computer.

Note

The first time that you connect the CD-ROM drive to your NEC Versa FX

system, the system must be powered off. Once you install the External Drive Connect
Utility, use the utility to connect the CD-ROM drive to your system while the system is
powered on. For details, see the section, “External Drive Connect Utility,” later in this
chapter.

1.

Power off your NEC Versa.

2.

Locate the external 24X CD-ROM drive and cable that ships with your system.

3.

Attach either cable connector to the CD-ROM drive.

4.

Attach the other cable connector to the CD-ROM port on the right side of the
system.
