Once your selection is made, click on OK. You will then be prompted for confirma-
tion; click on Yes to start extracting the drivers, or on No if you do not wish to
pursue the procedure. Depending on your computer model and on the drivers you
selected, you may be asked during the reinstallation process to insert a Master CD into
its drive.
Once all the drivers have been restored, you will be prompted to restart your com-
puter; please do so by clicking on OK. The Smart Restore main screen will re-appear.
Click on Cancel to close Smart Restore.
This procedure only extracts the drivers, you will now have to re-install the drivers
manually. Do as follows:
1. Click Start, then right-click My Computer and select Properties in the drop
down menu.
2. Select the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button.
3. Select the device you wish to install by double-clicking it.
4. Click the Driver tab and then the Update Driver button.
5. The Hardware Update Wizard will start, follow the on screen instructions.
Creating a Recovery Boot Disk
1. Click the Floppy Disk Drive icon at the bottom of the window.
2. You will be prompted to insert an empty and not write-protected floppy disk.
Insert a blank diskette in the floppy disk drive and click Create.
3. “Please wait” will be displayed, followed by the warning message “Be careful, the
content of this floppy disk is going to be erased”, click Create.
4. The programme will create the Recovery boot disk and, when finished, the
message “The Recovery boot disk has been successfully created ” will be displayed. Click
on OK.
5. The Smart Restore main screen will re-appear. Click Cancel to close Smart
Restore.
Creating Master CDs
When you click on the CD icon at the bottom of the screen, you will launch the
Master CDs creation process. Please refer to the chapter ‘NEC Recovery Menu’, section
2 ‘Create Master CDs from Backup Partition’ earlier in this guide for more information
about the Master CDs creation process.
When the Master CDs are created, the Smart Restore main screen will reappear. Click
Cancel
to close Smart Restore.
