This first part of the restoration process will take about half an hour. Please do not
remove the Recovery Boot Disk (Recovery Floppy Disk, Recovery CD, or Master
CD, depending on your configuration) until you are asked to do so, and do not shut
your system down!
Depending on the restoration process you chose, you may be asked during the process
to insert the both the first and second Master CDs into the optical disc drive. Please do
so and press the Enter key to continue.
A message will inform you once the restoration is finished. Before continuing, you
will first have to remove the diskette and the CD (if applicable) from their respective
drives. Then press the Enter key to restart your system.
The system will be restarted and the Windows installation procedure will start. Please
be patient as this procedure may take as long as one hour to complete. During this
time, your system will reinstall all your original software, but also your hardware con-
figuration.
Once this is finished, you will have to perform the first start process, just like the first
time you switched on your computer. For further details, please refer to the ‘Booting for
the First Time’ section of this guide (page 4).
Advanced options
In the advanced options menu, you can either choose to reinstall Windows only or
make changes to Windows setup.
CAUTION: these options should only be used by advanced PC users or if
you are asked to do so by our qualified technicians. If you are not 100% sure
that you want to continue, choose the Cancel option by pressing the Escape
key or the 3 key on your keyboard.
1. Windows and Smart Restore Only
This process formats your hard drive and performs a new installation of Windows and
Smart Restore with the minimum settings. Once both software applications have been
reinstalled, use Smart Restore to re-install the other applications.
CAUTION: all the data, including your personal files, will be permanently
deleted. Do not forget to backup on removable disks, such as diskettes or
writable CDs, your valuable files (documents, pictures...) before you begin
this process.
3. Return to the previous menu
Select 3 to return to the previous menu.
