Inspection
Items
Description
Interval
General
Check
1. Clean the insulated surface with a dry cloth to remove
dust and moisture.
2. Check the exterior for damage.
3. Check for loose bolts and nuts in the operating
mechanism and the external parts.
4. Check stop ring and stop retainer for damage.
5. Check the connection between terminals and conductors.
6. Check for any thermal over heating

Operation
Test
1. Operate a few times manually and
electrically and check each part for proper function.
2. Check position indicator and counter for proper function.

Insulation
Resistance
1. Measure insulation resistance phase to phase and
phase to ground
2. Check insulation resistance between control circuit and
ground. Measured value less than specified should be
investigated and corrected
Every 5 years or 2,000

Withstand
Voltage Test
1. Test the breaker with power withstand voltage
as specified
Every 5 years or 2000

Lubrication
1. Lubricate operating mechanism as specified.
2. Clean finger clusters with a dry cloth. Re-grease as
specified.

Vacuum
Interrupter
1. Check the contact erosion indicator. Replace as specified.
2. Voltage withstand as specified.
3. Micro ohm as specified.
4. Slow close test as specified.
5. Timing test as specified.

Components
1. Check all control components (including charging motor)
via electrical operation over specified ANSI ranges.
