2.4.2 TMC
antenna
The
NAVIGON 72XX
has an integrated TMC receiver. The TMC
antenna is integrated in the car charger cable. As soon as the car
charger cable is plugged to the navigation device traffic message
updates can be received. Dynamic route changes are thus possible,
e.g. in order to avoid a traffic jam.
2.4.3 Memory
card
A memory card is not necessary for operating the
NAVIGON 72XX
as
all data are stored in the device's internal memory.
The internal memory will be detected as Drive 'NAVIGON' when you
connect the
NAVIGON 72XX
with a USB cable to your computer. The
card slot will be detected as removable disk.
You may perform data backups and software and map updates quickly
and easily using
NAVIGON Fresh
which is included on the DVD
provided or can be downloaded free of charge from our website

If you purchase additional maps, but there is not enough space on the
internal memory of the navigation device, then you may as well store
these maps on a memory card. The
NAVIGON 72XX
may use maps
from both of the memories.
The following memory media can be used in the
NAVIGON 72XX
:
►
MicroSD cards with 2 GB max.

Navigating with GPS
GPS is based on a total of at least 24 satellites which are circling the
earth and constantly transmitting their position and time. The GPS
receiver receives this data and calculates its own geographical position
on the basis of the information transmitted by the various satellites.
Data from at least three satellites is required for positioning with an
acceptable degree of accuracy. With data from four or more satellites it
is possible in addition to determine the position's altitude above sea
level. Positioning is accurate to within three metres.
Once the navigation device has determined your position, this position
can be used as a starting point for calculating a route.
The map data on your navigation device includes the geographical
coordinates of all digitally recorded points of interest, streets and
places. This enables the device to calculate a route between a starting
point and a destination.
Calculation of the current position and its representation on the map
takes place once every second. In other words, your current position is
always shown on the map.
