NX5 PRE-INSTALLATION MANUAL
PLANNING CONTROL/MONITOR CONNECTIONS
VERSION 0.1 2015-08-01
PAGE 1.8.3
Remote Inputs
You can connect to ten remote inputs, which allow you to remotely control various operational
characteristics of the transmitter. Each input is mapped to a control that is preset at Nautel, but is also
user-configurable.
for a list of the remote input selection options, their functional
descriptions and their possible logic control options.
for a cross-reference between the remote input # (1 through 10) and its
associated input pin on the
REMOTE I/O-A (J6A)
25-pin male D-sub connector on the control/interface
PWB (A4).
Refer to the NX5 Operations and Maintenance Manual for instructions on changing the remote input
settings.
Unless otherwise noted these inputs are only accepted by the transmitter if the remote/local status is
set to remote enabled (local plus remote). That setting can only be made by a local user using the front
panel push-button. All inputs are ‘active’ when a ground (0 V) is applied.
The external remote input circuits interface with the transmitter via opto-couplers on the control/
interface PWB (A4). The opto-couplers buffer and isolate the external circuits and prevent any
unwanted transients from affecting the transmitter.
Nautel provides the appropriate gender of mating connector (Nautel Part # JS28) and connector shell
(Nautel Part # JS35) in the ancillary parts kit to facilitate customer connections to the controller’s D-sub
connector.
External Switching Circuit Requirements
The switching circuits for the remotely controlled functions must be the equivalent of a normally open
(momentary) switch. The switches must be configured to operate as a single-ended input using the
transmitter's 15 V dc as the source [see
“Option 1 - Internal Dc Supply” on page 1.8.4
input using an external dc power supply (12 - 18 V) applied to the control/interface PWB (J6A-9 and
J6A-21)
[see
“Option 2 - External Dc Supply” on page 1.8.5
].
NOTE
: The selected configuration applies to all remote inputs; inputs cannot be configured separately.
Inputs are activated by an active pulse unless otherwise noted. To ensure proper operation, the duration
of the active pulse should be a minimum of 250 ms. Refer to
for the various
logic control options for remote inputs.
