This artefact is most likely perceived around text, lines and around the edges of solid planes.
3) Solution
Use a temperature gun to check the temperature of the fabric close to the dryer. This
temperature should be in the range of 90 - 100°C. If this is not the case, try
increasing the
dryer intensity .
Try decreasing the heat fixation unit temperature by 10°C and reprint the job until the
ghosting disappears.
Wash fastness (discolouring)
1) General info
Wash fastness is a measurement for the degree of fixing. If the ink is not fixed completely on
the fabric, there will be a colour difference after washing the fabric.
A difference between colours is expressed in E. More specific, we are using E
94
as a
reference to partially account for perceptual non-uniformities of the human eye. The result is a
numeric value. After a successful fixation process, the E
94
should not be larger than 2 after
washing.
The colour difference can be measured using a spectrophotometer and the suitable software.

Be sure not to increase the dryer temperature too much. The dryer should not
get initiate the fixation process of the ink on the fabric already. Visually check
the colours before and after the fabric has passed the dryer. If you notice a
colour difference, decrease the dryer temperature.
