6.3.3 Spark plug – Installation
Preconditions

Engine is stopped and starting disabled.
☑
Open protective packing of new spark plug only immediately prior to installation.

• Always wear electrical gloves (class 4 minimum) when touching the ignition cable in operation.

Compressed air gun ejects a jet of pressurized air.

• Never direct air jet at people.
• Always wear safety goggles/face mask and ear defenders.
Spark plug – Installation
1.
Remove dust and deposits from ignition
line on side facing spark plugs so that per-
fect is achieved when reused.
2.
Install a new lower seal in the ignition ca-
ble.
3.
Check spark plug connector and ignition
cable for perfect condition and replace any
damaged parts.
4.
Clean mating faces on spark plug, sealing
ring and cylinder head.
5.
Apply thin coat of assembly compound to
spark plug.
6.
Fit new sealing ring (2) on spark plug (1),
positioning it correctly.
