WARNING
Engine oil is hot.
Engine oil can contain combustion residues which are harmful to health.
Risk of injury and poisoning!
• Allow the engine to cool to below 50 °C before beginning work.
• Wear protective clothing, protective gloves, and safety glasses / facial protection.
• Avoid contact with skin.
• Do not inhale oil vapor.
Note:
In the case of new engines and spare parts, oil dipsticks are delivered without marks.
Marking oil dipstick
1.
Draw-off or drain engine oil completely from oil pan.
2.
Pull out oil dipstick.
3.
Fill with minimum quantity of oil (→ engine data).
4.
Insert oil dipstick and withdraw it again.
5.
Mark a “Min.” notch on the oil dipstick. Max. notch depth 1 mm.
6.
Shorten oil dipstick as necessary.
7.
Fill with maximum quantity of oil (→ engine data).
8.
Insert oil dipstick and withdraw it again.
9.
Mark a “Max.” notch on the oil dipstick. Max. notch depth 1 mm.
