Desiccator
The desiccator is basically a vacuum chamber, which is filled with a liquid, either methylene
blue dye for blister pack tests or water for bubble tests. During a test, the test items are kept
submerged in the liquid.

The desiccator is available in 2 designs, one with a domed lid and one with a flat lid. Both
types are quite versatile, but basically the domed lid version is best for
Blue Dye testing of
blister packs while the flat lid version is best for Bubble tests.
Setting Up
1. Connect the 6 mm vacuum hose

and the 4 mm pressure sense hose

between the
connectors on the adapter

or the flat lid

and the appropriate connectors on the
VC1400 - see "Connecting hoses and cables" on page 26 for details.
2. On domed lid versions, check that the O-ring

is fitted properly in the adapter

, then
connect it to the connector on the lid

.
3. Check that the O-ring

is fitted properly in the groove in the tub

and at the same
time apply a small amount of grease to the O-ring if necessary.
4. Fill the appropriate amount of liquid into the tub

, either methylene blue dye for blister
pack tests or water for bubble tests.
