application of the products is deemed to be improper.

External Dimensions and Part Names
Potentiometer Configuration
To read the set value of a potentiometer, a VRRD or VRSC instruction with the
number of the corresponding potentiometer is used.

A VRRD instruction converts the analog value of the potentiometer into a
numeric value in the range from 0 to 255.

A VRSC instruction converts the analog value of the potentiometer into a
numeric value in the range from 0 to 10.

Installation
Applicable PLC
An expansion board of the MELSEC FX
3G
series can be combined with a PLC of
the MELSEC FX
3G
, FX
3GE
or FX
3S
series.
Only one FX
3G
-8AV-BD can be used per base unit.
Connection to the PLC
Shown below is the connection to a FX
3G
base unit. The assembly to a FX
3GE
or
FX
3S
base unit is analogously carried out.

Turn off the power.

Make sure the expansion board is in parallel with the base unit and fix it to
the connector of the base unit.

Fix the expansion board to the base unit using the 3 mm tapping screws
provided with the board . The tightening torque is 0.3 to 0.6 Nm.

When drilling screw holes or wiring, cutting chips or wire chips should
not enter ventilation slits. Such an accident may cause fire, failure or

Fix the expansion board securely to the specified connector. Incorrect
connection may cause malfunction.
