Combustion Air Fan Blades

CAUTION 2 : Entangle and Crush Hazards

—Contact with moving components normally

isolated by guards, covers, and panels, can entangle and crush your limbs. These components
move automatically.

• Lockout/tagout power at the main machine disconnect before accessing the fan.

Lint buildup on the leading edge of the “squirrel cage” fan blades (

Figure 3

, item 2) will reduce

fan efficiency and can cause an out-of-balance. To clean, access the fan and blow compressed air
through the blades from the center of the fan. You can use the air wand shown in

Figure 3

(see

caution statement

). However, the method of accessing the squirrel cage with the air wand will

vary with the specific machine design. For example, you may find that your machine has an air
flow restrictor (

Figure 3

, item 5), which must be removed. Perform this cleaning whenever you

clean the diffuser plate.
