Cleaning the cooktop before
heating it up for the first time
The metal components have a
protective coating. The cooktop may
have a slight odor and give off vapor
when heated up for the first time.
Any odors or vapors given off do not
indicate a faulty connection or
appliance and they are not hazardous
to health.
Remove any adhesive labels or
protective films from the cooktop.
Before heating the cooktop up, wipe
with a damp cloth to remove any dust
or bits of packaging and then dry the
surface.
Clean all removable parts of the
burners with a solution of warm water
and a little liquid dish soap applied
with a soft sponge. Dry all parts
thoroughly after cleaning and then
reassemble the burners (see “Gas
cooktop cleaning and care”).
Remove the grill and clean it with a
soft sponge, warm water, and a small
amount of liquid dish soap. Then dry
the grill.
Seasoning the griddle plate
You need to season the griddle plate
before you can cook food on it. This
prevents food from sticking to it and
protects the surface from moisture.
Ensure that the kitchen is well
ventilated while the appliance is being
heated up for the first time.
Close doors to other rooms to prevent
the odor spreading throughout the
house.
Set the griddle plate to
High
for
30 minutes.
Switch off the griddle plate after
30 minutes.
Let the griddle plate cool down.
The griddle plate will be permanently
discolored after heating up. The
discoloration can increase over time.
This will not affect functionality in any
way.
Pour 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil that
can be heated to a high temperature in
the middle of the cooled griddle plate.
Distribute the oil with a paper towel.
Do not oil the corners.
Do not use too much oil. Excess oil
leaves behind a rubbery substance
that needs to be removed.
Remove excess oil with a paper
towel.
Set the griddle plate to
High
until the
oil starts to smoke.
Switch off the griddle plate.
When the griddle plate has cooled
down sufficiently that it can be
touched, remove excess oil.
Repeat the process once the griddle
plate has cooled down completely.
