ATS-6501 Users Guide

Current Alarm: 

Steps to resolve issue 

gps_invalid_fixed_position 

The programmed position does not match the position programmed into the 
system configuration file. Ensure both positions are set correctly.  

gps_tracking 

GPS receiver is unable to successfully track satellites. Check all GPS 
antenna connections and the antenna for clear view of the sky. Ensure the 
position is set correctly. Ensure the antenna voltage is set to +12V.  

hp5071 

 

electron_multiplier_voltage 

Check 5071A electron multiplier voltage, if more than 2550V replace the 
5071A.   Note 2553 is Max value. 

locked 

Check 5071A continuous operation light,  If off replace the 5071A. 

 oscillator_control 

Check 5071A oscillator control, if more than 95% replace the 5071A. 

 signal_gain 

Check 5071A signal gain, if more than 95% replace the 5071A. 

leapseconds 

 

internal_error 

Leap seconds have not been determined properly, contact Microsemi.  

 unknown 

Leap seconds have not been determined properly, contact Microsemi. 

ocxo_freq_control 

Internal OCXO control voltage is within 98% of maximum, replace ATS 
6501 as soon as possible.  

output_modules 

 

1-6 

If one port is reporting a hardware error, remove the cable connected to 
that port and see if the alarm clears. If it does not, replace the plug in 
module.  If it clears check the end user system for faults/failures. 

over_temperature 

Internal temperature is over limit. Ensure fan airflow is not restricted and 
fans are rotating. If there are no fan alarms, fans are rotating at speed and 
the fan filter is clear of debris, replace the ATS 6501. 

power_supply 1 

Ensure power supply is fully seated from the front. 
Ensure power cord is connected at both the power supply and power strip. 

power_supply 2 

Ensure power supply is fully seated from the front.  
Ensure power cord is connected at both the power supply and power strip.  

ref_unlocked 

Check 5071A to ATS 6501 reference input cable. (reference=external) 

syscfg 

Confirm that the ATS 6501 settings match the settings in the sys_cfg file. 

tcxo_failure 

Replace the ATS 6501. 

outputs disabled 

If this alarm is present and no other alarms are present, reboot the ATS 
6501. If the problem is not cleared, replace the ATS 6501.  

ocxo_freq_control N 

Status only, not an alarm. Monitor for readings reaching over 90, which 
indicates the OCXO is reaching the end of its control range. Replace the 
ATS 6501 as soon as reasonably possible. 

gps_antenna_short 

Check the antenna cable and antenna for a short. If there is no short in 
either of those items and the alarm continues with no antenna cable 
connected to the ATS 6501, replace the ATS 6501.  

gps_battery_charger 

The internal battery charger for the GPS receiver battery backup has failed, 
replace the ATS 6501.  

ref_unlocked -- cannot 
communicate with device 

Check USB to serial cable and Null modem cable to ensure it is connected 
to the ATS 6501 USB port and the 5071A Serial Port. Ensure the 5071A 
serial port is set to 9600 Baud, No Parity, 8 Data Bits, and 1 Stop Bit 
(9600,N,8,1).
