Ignition Failure
1. Make sure damper is fully out.
2. Verify that the fuse has not blown. The fuse is located in the equipment compartment on most models. If you
are looking at the front of the pellet fire, open the right hand side panel. The fuse is on the MX Controller. If
the fuse is blown, it will need to be replaced.
3. Verify for power at the igniter and replace the igniter if necessary.
4. Verify that the burn pot is clean. See “Maintenance” section for more information on cleaning your pellet fire.
A dirty burn pot may cause ignition times to increase.
5. Check igniter connections - Check the igniter is in place.
6. If none of the above resolve your problem, contact your local METRO dealer.
Overheating
This problem occurs when the circulation fan setting is too low for the amount of heat generated.
1. Verify that the circulation fan is working properly. With the pellet fire plugged in, start the pellet fire. Once the
pellet fire has gone through the start up cycle, press the fan button. You should feel air coming from the heat
exchanger. If not, check the control board and replace if necessary.
2. If the heat is not needed, reduce the feed and damper accordingly. Continue to reduce the feed until the
circulation fan does not run on high.
3. If none of the above resolve your problem, contact your local METRO dealer.
Lack of Air.
The most common cause of flame problems are improperly sealed door and ashtrays, dirty pellet fires, poor fuel,
improper installation and improper damper adjustment.
1. Verify that all doors, ashtrays and ashgates are properly closed and sealed. Replace gaskets if necessary.
2. Clean your pellet fire thoroughly. Refer to the “Before each heating season:” section of the “Maintenance”
section for detailed cleaning instructions.
3. Try using various brands of fuel. Although most manufacturers claim to produce “premium” grade wood
pellets, contaminants and moisture will affect fuel quality.
4. If your pellet fire is less than one year old, your venting and/or air intake may be too restrictive. Contact your
local METRO dealer for venting recommendations.
5. Check to make sure that the exhaust fan is running properly. Replace the exhaust fan if necessary.
6. If none of the above resolve your problem, contact your local METRO dealer.
