9.0 TROUBLESHOOTING
Below is a listing of some common problems and the suggested remedies for them.
LEDs and LCD are not illuminated.
- Check the power supply(s), power cable(s), and power connector.
Some LEDs are lit but LCD screen has dark rectangle-shaped characters instead of letters.
- Check LCD contrast setting
Modem self-diagnostic does not work but data is being transmitted to remote devices.

Modem address is incorrect

Optical cable connections are incorrect

Check Master modem connection to diagnostic computer
- SpectraSmart program running but net (ring or string) is not activated.
Modem self-diagnostic shows that the modems are operating properly but the user’s data is not
being received properly.
- Check DIP switch position (interface mode, loop)
If the problem with the modem/network still persists, please call Meridian’s technical support staff for
further assistance. When calling, please have the information about the modems and network (part #,
Serial #, network architecture, etc.) available.
