Warning and indicator lamps
Overview of warning and indicator lamps
When the ignition is switched on, many systems
perform a self-test. Some warning and indicator
lamps may switch on or flash temporarily during
this time. This behaviour is no cause for alarm.
These warning and indicator lamps only signal a
malfunction if they light up or flash once the
engine has been started or the vehicle is in oper‐
ation.

Restraint system warning
lamp
The restraint system red warning lamp is on while the engine is on.
The restraint system is malfunctioning.

WARNING Risk of injury or fatal injury due to a malfunction in
the restraint system
If the restraint system is malfunctioning, restraint system compo‐
nents may be triggered unintentionally or might not be triggered at
all in the event of an accident. This may affect the seat belt ten‐
sioner or airbag, for example.

Have the restraint system checked and repaired immediately
at a qualified specialist workshop.

Continue driving carefully.

Read the messages on the multifunction display.
