You will find the maximum load capacity of

the jack stated on the adhesive label

attached to the jack.

The jack is maintenance-free. If there is a

malfunction, please contact a qualified spe‐

cialist workshop.

Vehicles with rear wheel drive

The tyre-change tool kit is located in the stowage

compartment

 above the step of the co-driv‐

er's door and in the stowage compartment in the

footwell on the co-driver side.

Vehicles with front wheel drive

The tyre-change tool kit 

1

 is located behind the

driver's seat.

Preparing the vehicle for a wheel change

Requirements: 

R

The tyre-change tool kit is available.

R

The vehicle is not on a slope.

R

The vehicle is on solid, non-slippery and level

ground.

Apply the parking brake.

#

Move the front wheels to the straight-ahead

position.

#

Vehicles with manual transmission: 

engage first or reverse gear 

k

.

#

Vehicles with automatic transmission: 

shift the transmission to position 

j

.

#

Switch off the engine.

#

Make sure that the engine cannot be started.

#

Take the vehicle tool kit from the footwell on

the co-driver side (

→

 page 299).

Vehicles with rear wheel drive

#

Take the jack and the tyre-change tool kit out

of the stowage compartment (

→

 page 320).

#

If necessary, remove the hub cab.

#

Assemble the wheel wrench extension using

the middle rod and the rod with the largest

diameter from the three-piece jack pump

lever.

#

Starting with the middle rod, slide the wheel

wrench extension as far as it will go onto the

wheel wrench.

#

Using the wheel wrench, loosen the wheel

nuts/bolts on the wheel you wish to change

by about one full turn. Do not unscrew the

wheel bolts/nuts completely.

#

Raise the vehicle (

Vehicles with front wheel drive

#

Take the jack and the tyre-change tool kit

from behind the driver's seat (

→

 page 320).

#

If necessary, remove the hub cab.

#

Using the wheel wrench, loosen the wheel

nuts/bolts on the wheel you wish to change
