7. Position the hook directly behind the needle. The indentation for the retaining finger tab should
be directly in front of the needle. Hold the hook in this position.
8. Slide the hook assembly forward or backward until you have a gap about the thickness of a
thread between it and the needle. You may have to tighten one of the screws slightly and
check the gap before it is correct.
9. When the gap is correct, tighten the screws. Use the Hook Timing commands as described in
steps 1 through 4 in order to access all of the screws.
10. If you loosened or removed the retaining finger during hook timing and hook gap adjustments,
you must now readjust the tab gap. The retaining finger tab should:
•
Be in the groove far enough to keep the inner basket from rotating.
•
Leave a space large enough for thread to pass.
11. Check all of your adjustments (referring to Figure 5-27) and repeat any steps if necessary.
12. Replace the needle plate, making certain the needle centers in the needle plate hole. When the
needle is centered, tighten the plate completely.
13. Replace the bobbin case and the table insert.
