6 Malfunctions
6.1 Malfunctions without error display _________________________________________
The following instructions are provided in order to help users correct minor malfunctions themselves, or to
provide sufficiently exact trouble descriptions to the MELAG dealer or other specialists.
The autoclave may be serviced / repaired only by the manufacturer, or by personnel expressly au-
thorized by the manufacturer (i.e., a specialist dealer, or the MELAG Customer Service Department).
6.1.1 Display of the operational state ________________________________________________________
After the operator has turned on the power switch [15], the autoclave shows its normal operational state by
the following displays [3] (time of day in line 1, and pressure and temperature of chamber in line 2):
Door closed:
Display line 1:
10 : 19 : 56
Display line 2:
0.01bar 99°C
The water signal lamp [33] lights up in case of insufficient water.
Door open:
Display line 1:
10 : 19 : 56
Display line 2:
0.01bar 99°C
The signal lamp for door open lights up [34].
The water signal lamp [33] lights up in case of insufficient water.
Check the following in case there is no display:
Is the autoclave power plug in the power socket?
Is the power socket carrying the proper line voltage? If the plug is in the socket, and if the power
switch is on, the autoclave display will light up. If line voltage is provided, and if the power switch is
on, but if the display remains dark, then the primary fuse in the autoclave is defective, or there is
some other electrical defect. Contact the MELAG dealer.
In case the display is not correct:
Switch off the power switch and wait approximately 10 seconds. Then switch on again. If the auto-
clave is still not in proper initial operating state as described above, there is probably an electrical
defect in the unit. Please contact the MELAG dealer.
6.1.2 A program does not start______________________________________________________________
The door contact
A program can start only if the door is closed. Check to make sure that the door contact [14] is operated
when the door is closed: the lamp for door open [34] must go out.
Operate the door contact by hand to check whether the lamp for door open [34] goes out. If the contact is
defective, or if it is improperly adjusted, so that the lamp does not go out, get in touch with your MELAG
dealer.
Insufficient water:
If the lamp for insufficient water is on [33], this means that there is no longer enough water in the in the water
storage tank. It is then not possible to start a program. Necessary actions:
Fill the water storage tank with distilled or demineralized water (aqua dest / aqua dem) up to the
MAX marking.
