SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Read the Operating Instructions carefully before use
1.
Make sure the machine's safety devices are always in place and in good working order.
2.
Remove the setting tools, spanners, etc., before starting the machine.
3.
Keep the work area clean and tidy. Untidy work areas increase the risk of accidents and injuries.
4.
Do not use the machine in dangerous environments, such as in damp or wet conditions. Make sure
the work area is well lit. Do not expose to rain.
5.
Keep children, onlookers and other unauthorised persons at a safe distance from the work area.
6.
Make the work area childproof by using padlocks and master switches and by removing starter
keys.
7.
Do not force the machine or accessory to perform an operation that the machine or accessory is
not designed for.
8.
Use the right tools and the right speed. The machine does the job better and safer when used at
the speed and rate for which it was designed.
9.
Wear proper work clothes. Do not wear loose-fitting clothing, gloves, scarves, rings, bracelets or
other jewellery, as these can get caught in moving parts. Wear non-slip shoes and use a hair net if
you have long hair.
10. Always wear eye protection. Note that normal glasses do not provide the same protection as
proper safety goggles.
11.
Secure the workpiece with clamps or in a vice. This is safer than using your hands and means you
have both hands free to operate the tool.
12.
Keep a firm footing and a proper balance at all times.
13.
Maintain the machine and accessories for optimum performance and safety. Follow the instructions
for lubrication and replacement of accessories.
14. Unplug the machine from the mains supply before servicing and maintenance, changing
accessories, etc.
15.
Make sure the power switch is in the OFF position before starting the machine.
16. Only use only the accessories recommended in the Operating Instructions. The use of unsuitable
accessories may cause personal injury and damage to the machine.
17. Never use the machine to stand on. Serious injury could result if the machine tips over or if you
come into contact with the machine's cutting components.
18.
Inspect the machine for damage before starting. Make sure all safety devices and other parts are in
place, intact and in good working order. Inspect the machine for misaligned or binding moving
parts, damaged or defective components or other factors that could affect the safety and operation
of the machine. Damaged parts must be repaired or replaced before the machine is used.
19. Never leave the machine unattended when it is in operation. Before you leave the machine, turn it
off and wait until it has come to a complete standstill.
Special safety instructions
1.
Warning: The use of unsuitable accessories can be dangerous.
2.
The speed of the machine when drilling is determined by factors such as the type of material being
machined, the hole size, type of drill or other tool as well as the required quality of the cutting edge.
In general, the smaller the drill, the higher the speed required. The speed must be higher for soft
materials than for hard materials.
3.
When drilling in metal, use clamps or a vice to secure the workpiece. Never hold the workpiece
with just your hands as the drill could jam in the workpiece at any time, especially when it
penetrates the material. You could be injured if the workpiece is torn from your hands, and the drill
will break when the workpiece hits the upright.
4.
If the workpiece is not securely fastened, each turn, angling, etc. of the workpiece will not only
cause uneven and rough holes, but also an increasing number of drill breaks. When you machine
flat material, place the workpiece on a wooden board and fasten it firmly to the work surface so that
it cannot rotate. If the workpiece has an irregular shape and cannot be laid flat, it must be secured
with blocks and clamped.
5.
The chuck must be adapted to the spindle so that it cannot work loose.
6.
Remove the chuck key after adjustments.
7.
Unplug the machine from the power socket before the motor is installed, connected to the mains or
dismantled.
8.
Fix the tool to the surface if there is any tendency that the tool might overturn or slide along the
surface.
