2.8 Causes of kickback and ways to
prevent it

chain jams in the cut.

cause the product to be pressed back towards the user.

A kickback can also result in serious personal injury or
death. Do not rely on the safety mechanisms on the
product. The correct and careful way to operate the
product is the only reliable method to reduce the risk of
kickback.

Kickback occurs when the product is used incorrectly
and/or with the wrong work methods or in the wrong
conditions, and can be avoided as follows.
- Hold the product firmly with both hands and hold your
arms in a position that prevents kickback.
Kickback can cause the product to jerk backwards, but
the user can control this with the appropriate measures.
Keep a firm grip on both handles.
- Do not overreach and do not operate above shoulder
height. This makes it easier to avoid unintentional contact
with the tip of the bar, and gives you better control of the
product in unexpected situations.
- Only use a accessories recommended by the
manufacturer. The use of other accessories can cause the
chain to break/kickback.

sharpen the chain. A worn or incorrectly sharpened chain
increases the risk of kickback.
