4.1.2.2 Communications Configuration
The Protocol, Communications address, and bps rate for the Remote interface of the HPA can be
configured through the local panel (see the Communications Set-up Screen paragraph of this
document) or the Diagnostic interface (see the Diagnostic Interface-Settings paragraph of this
document). The default values and adjustment range for each is shown in the table below.
Configuration of the Remote interface is independent of the Computer interface. Status LEDs on
the HPA front panel are connected to the transmitted and received data lines of this interface to
provide communications status.

4.1.3 Computer
Control
4.1.3.1 Control Priority
While the HPA is in the Computer mode, the operator at the Computer device will be allowed to
control the HPA. While in the Computer mode the Local panel or Remote Interface cannot
change the operating state of the HPA, but they can still get status. From the Computer interface
the operator can pass control to or take control away from the Remote interface. For safety
reasons, at no time can the Computer interface take control away from the Local panel.
4.1.3.2 Communications Configuration
The Protocol, Communications address, and bps rate of the HPA can be configured through the
local panel (see the Communications Set-up Screen paragraph of this document) or the
Diagnostic interface (see the Diagnostic Interface-Settings paragraph of this document). The
default values and adjustment range for each is shown in the table below. Configuration of the
Computer interface is independent of the Remote interface. The hardware interface configuration
also requires a cable connection change internal to the HPA (see TN4000-2 Technical Note,
Installation Guide for MT4000 TWTA). Status LEDs on the HPA front panel are connected to the
transmitted and received data lines of this interface to provide communications status.
