Installation/Setup
The active cross-over can be set up on a level surface or installed in a 19" rack.
When setting up or mounting the device with other equipment, provide sufficient ventilation for
all components to avoid outages due to overheating. Rack mounting may require an additional
fan to dissipate the resulting heat from the rack.
Keep a sufficient distance from heat sources. Do not place the device directly next to heat
sources such as amplifiers. Do not point any strong spotlights or light sources towards the
device. This may lead to overheating (risk of fire).
Heat dissipation from the device must not be obstructed. Never place the device on any soft
surfaces such as a carpet or a bed. Do not cover any ventilation openings of the device. Air
circulation must not be obstructed by objects such as magazines, tablecloths, curtains or
similar. This prevents heat dissipation from the device and may lead to overheating (risk of fire).
Do not drill any holes or screw any screws into the casing. This may damage the device and
impair its safety.
Ensure stable footing and place the device on a stable underground. Persons may be injured
if the device falls down or tips over.
Make sure that the connection cables are not mechanically strained, squeezed or damaged by
sharp edges. Always install the cables so that no one will step on them, trip over them or get
caught in them. Danger of injury!
Make sure there are no devices with strong electric or magnetic fields such as transformers,
motors, wireless phones, radio-controlled devices, computers, etc. in the vicinity of the device.
They may negatively influence the device. There also is a danger of the device interfering with
radios or TVs in a detrimental case. Therefore, keep sufficient distance to such devices.
Never place the device on valuable or sensitive furniture surfaces without sufficient protection.
Use as table device
Place the active cross-over on a straight, horizontal surface. The setup surface must not be sensitive to heat.
Use in a rack
We recommend using a rack that can be opened from both sides, because it permits for easier installation and
connection. The active cross-over’s front plate has four attachment holes. Attach the active cross-over in the rack
with four sufficiently large screws.
Attachment at the front plate alone, however, is not sufficient for secure attachment. Additionally, even attachment
must be provided for by side and bottom rails. The respective rack producers offer different options for this.
