The X- CTU and Com Port Redirect or soft ware facilit at e com m unicat ions t hrough a PC com port .
Follow t he inst r uct ions below t o set up a com port for configuring and t est ing t he RF m odem .

Use t he X- CTU soft ware t o configure t he Et her net RF Modem and PC com port . The soft ware is
divided int o four t abs:
• PC Set t ings t ab - Set up PC serial com port s t o int erface w it h RF m odem
• Range Test t ab - Test RF m odem 's range under varying environm ent s
• Term inal t ab - Test ser ial com m unicat ions and set / read RF m odem param et ers

MaxSt ream provides com port redirect ion soft ware t hat creat es a com port in t he operat ing sys-
t em t hat w ill forward serial dat a t o t he I P address of t he Et hernet - connect ed RF m odem . The
Et hernet RF Modem can t hen be accessed as t hough it w ere a serial device.
The Et hernet Com Port Redirect or m ust be inst alled separat ely t o enable t he " Et hernet Com Port s"
sub- t ab of t he X- CTU " PC Set t ings" t ab. I f t his soft ware is not inst alled, t he feat ures under t he
" Et hernet Com Por t s" sect ion are grayed and cannot be used.
The " Et hernet Com Por t s" sub- t ab enables user t o perform funct ions such as t he follow ing:
• Discover Et hernet RF Modem s on a net w ork
• Set up serial com port s for XTend- PKG- E Et hernet RF Modem s
• I dent ify, assign and m odify Et hernet RF Modem I P addresses

Double- click t he " set up_X- CTU.exe" file t hen follow prom pt s of t he inst allat ion scr eens. This file
is locat ed on t he MaxSt ream CD and under t he 'Dow nloads' sect ion of t he follow ing w eb page:
www.m axst ream .net / helpdesk/ download.php.

screens. This file is locat ed in t he " soft ware" folder of t he MaxSt ream CD.
