BD ( I n t e r fa ce D a t a Ra t e ) Com m a n d
< Serial I nt erfacing> The BD com m and is used t o
set and read t he serial int erface dat a rat e ( baud
rat e) used bet w een t he RF m odem and host . This
param et er det erm ines t he rat e at w hich ser ial
dat a is sent t o t he m odem from t he host . Modified
int er face dat a rat es do not t ake effect unt il t he CN
( Exit AT Com m and Mode) com m and is issued and
t he syst em ret urns t he 'OK' response.
When param et ers 0- 8 are sent t o t he m odem , t he
respect ive int erface dat a rat es are used ( as
show n in t he t able on t he right ) .
The RF dat a rat e is not affect ed by t he BD param -
et er. I f t he int erface dat a rat e is set higher t han
t he RF dat a rat e, a flow cont rol configurat ion m ay
need t o be im plem ent ed.
The range bet w een st andard and non- st andard
baud rat es ( 0x09 - 0x38) is invalid.

Any value above 0x38 w ill be int erpret ed as an
act ual baud rat e. When a value above 0x38 is
sent , t he closest int erface dat a rat e r epr esent ed
by t he num ber is st ored in t he BD r egist er. For exam ple, a rat e of 19200 bps can be set by sending
t he follow ing com m and line " ATBD4B00" . NOTE: When using MaxSt ream ’s X- CTU Soft ware, non-
st andard int erface dat a rat es can only be set and read using t he X- CTU ‘Term inal’ t ab. Non- st an-
dard rat es are not accessible t hrough t he ‘Modem Configurat ion’ t ab.
When t he BD com m and is sent wit h a non- st andard int erface dat a rat e, t he UART w ill adj ust t o
accom m odat e t he request ed int erface rat e. I n m ost cases, t he clock resolut ion w ill cause t he
st ored BD param et er t o vary from t he param et er t hat was sent ( refer t o t he t able below ) . Reading
t he BD com m and ( send " ATBD" com m and w it hout an associat ed param et er value) w ill ret urn t he
value act ually st ored in t he m odem ’s BD regist er.
