MaxSt ream RF Modem s w ere designed t o provide reliable wireless links bet ween devices cont ained
in a dat a sy st em . The PKG- E Et hernet RF Modem allow s int egrat ors t o connect t he MaxSt ream
Modem s int o an Et hernet net w ork.
The follow ing devices w ill be used t o descr ibe a dat a syst em t hat includes t he XTend- PKG- E Et her -
net RF Modem :
X Te nd- PKG- E Et h e r n e t RF M ode m ( " PKG- E" )
: The Et hernet RF Modem is
an Et hernet - connect ed serial m odem used for com m unicat ion w it h ot her Max-
St ream serial m odem s. The Et hernet RF Modem is not a wireless Et hernet
Bridge int ended for Et hernet connect ivit y on bot h t he rem ot e and base ends of
a w ireless link.

Modem is a ser ial m odem t hat can be ident ified by it s DB- 9 ser ial por t and 6-

: The OEM RF Module is
m ount ed inside all XTend- PKG RF Modem s and m ay be int egrat ed int o OEM-
designed product s t o t ransm it and receive dat a over- t he- air.

The PKG- E Et hernet RF Modem can be used as an access point in a net w ork of MaxSt ream RS-
232/ RS- 485 RF Modem s ( or ot her OEM RF Module Em bedded Devices) . XTend RF Modem s support
point- t o- point , peer- t o- peer, point- t o- m ult ipoint and m ult idrop net w ork t opologies. Below is an
exam ple of a t ypical point- t o- m ult ipoint applicat ion:

port .
