• Decide a place where the connection box is to placed.
• Lay DB-9 to RJ-11 cable from the system to connection box.
Connect the DB-9 connector end of the cable to the splitter
cable.
• Please note that if DSS45 is used with Focus or Empire then it
should be connected to the thick cable of the splitter cable and if
DSS45 is used with Vision or Team then it
should be connected
to the thin cable.
Connect the RJ11 end of the cable to the RJ11
socket of the connection box.
• Go to the reception area where DSS45 is to be placed. Decide a
place where the second connection box is to be placed. Connect
one end of the RJ11 to RJ11 connection cable to DSS45 and
other end to the second connection box.
• Since DSS45 is to be installed away from the system, you need
extra cable. You can use field wiring for this purpose. You need
three pair of wires. Please use three separate pair of wires to
avoid noise. Length of this field wiring should be less than 50
meters.
• Now connect one end of these pairs to connection box placed at
the system end and other end of these pairs to the other
connection box placed at DSS45 end. To make the connections,
open the connection box. Screw terminals are provided inside
the box. Terminate these pairs as described below to connection
boxes.
• Pair no. 1 to red and green of both the boxes.
• Pair no. 2 to black and yellow of both the boxes.
• Pair no. 3 to blue and white of both the boxes.
• MDF wires (two hanging wires) coming out from DB-9 connector
are speech wires and should be connected to any of the free
extension port. Please do not select power down extension else
in event of power failure DSS45 will not work.
• Take a small piece of telephone cable to connect the MDF with
the hanging wires coming out from the cable. Polarity is not
important here. Make proper joints with twisting and soldering.
To prevent shorts and sparks, secure the joints with good quality
insulation tape.
• Connect the handset to the DSS45.
