sist rust and corrosion. However, boat owners and operators should
routinely check that the snaps are in good condition. Any time the
snap-out carpets are reinstalled on the deck, be certain that the
snaps are fully seated. Otherwise, the carpet could dislodge or move,
causing passengers to slip and fall.
Models: The snap-out carpet is optional on a limited number of models.
Boaters should use caution when walking on
Soft Grip that is wet. Soft Grip can be very
slippery, and falls could result in serious injury.
Removable Cooler
Adding more convenience is a marine-grade, removable cooler
(slide-out removable cooler in the M240). Any cooler of the same or
smaller size will fit in the same location under the seating immedi-
ately aft of the driver’s seat, but Malibu recommends marine-grade
coolers as they use stainless-steel hardware, which is advisable in
the type of atmosphere in which it will be used. Although the sup-
plied cooler has a liner that reduces odor absorption, it is a good idea
to clean out the cooler after each use. Odors may still penetrate, and
spills can stain. Such occurrences are not covered under warranty.
Cooler storage location varies by model.
To remove the cooler in the M240, press the release pin located
to right of the cooler plate. The cooler will slide out after the plate
is lowered. Be certain the cooler is in place and the plate has been
re-secured prior to the boat resuming movement. Otherwise, the
cooler may become dislodged, and result in injury.
To ensure the cooler is locked and will not slide out during opera-
tion, check that the secondary latch is secure. It is located to the left
side of the cooler plate. Rotate it about 30 degrees clockwise to lock
the slide mechanism in the closed position.

spilled in the compartment, cleaning should occur as quickly as pos-
sible afterwards.
Anything brought onboard should be
stored in a designated storage compart
-
ment, if possible, to avoid the potential of
being struck by an unsecured item while underway. This could result
in serious injury or even death. Items should be evenly distributed and
with attention to the number of passengers and where they will sit.
Even distribution of added weight is critical to a safe operation.
Never force a compartment closed as overloading could cause
damage to the boat and that is not covered under warranty. Stor-
age compartments should be kept clean. Failure to do so may result
in damage or permanent discoloring and/or odors that are also not
covered under warranty.
Models: Available on all models.
100—How It Works
Cup Holders
All boats are equipped with cup holders. The cup holders are
sized for contemporary, normal-sized cups. Malibu recommends us-
ing only cups with covers as boat motion is likely to otherwise slosh
liquids out of the cups. If liquids are spilled into the cup holder, or
anywhere else, they should be cleaned up as soon as practical to
prevent any damage to the boat components or anything brought
onboard. Such damage is not covered under warranty.
Models: All models.
Removable Trash Receptacle
Some models have a removable trash receptacle which is stowed
under the aft, starboard seating. Malibu recommends using plastic
liners in the receptacle to ease the removal of trash. All trash, re-
gardless of whether the boat is equipped with this feature, should
be properly discarded onshore in a legal and safe manner. Clean the
receptacle as needed to prevent staining and odors.
Models: All models except the 21LX and Response/TXi.
Carpets and Soft Grip
Carpets and Soft Grip add comfort and attractive appearances to
the interior. These require some additional attention to the interior
of the deck. It is important to allow the carpet/Soft Grip to dry before
covering the deck with a mooring cover or other canvas. (The snap-
out carpets can be removed to air dry.) Although Malibu carpets and
Soft Grip are constructed from marine-grade materials, if they do
not dry thoroughly before storage, even short-duration, mold and
mildew can set in. Additional information is available in the Care and
Maintenance section of this manual.
The snap-out carpet hardware is made from stainless steel to re-
