2.2 Parallel connection
Circuit 4:
Current measurement without shunt resistance
Setup information
Install the two resistors and then the jumper as shown in
Fig. 2.4.
Then connect the moving-coil instru-
ment. Check the placement on the board again and only then connect the battery.
Components required:
2 x 10 k
Ω
resistor,
1 x moving-coil instrument,
1 x breadboard, 1 x 9V bat-
tery with clip connector

Experiment
Once the battery is connected, the moving-coil instrument will deflect. What is the scale of the deflection? If
all is fine, the needle will deflect full-scale. As this is a voltage measurement; the voltage of the 9V battery is
indicated. Try connecting a 1.5V AA battery instead of the 9V battery. What is the deflection now?
