6-3. Installation Procedure
Checking installation surface
1
Check that there are no indentations, rust, or scratches on the machine shaft where this product will
be installed. Completely wipe off any dust and dirt on the machine shaft .
Installing the stator
2
Aft er temporarily securing the stator using the supplied nine M4 screws, adjust it so that it has a
concentricity of 0.02 mm or less with the rotary shaft , and then tighten up the screws. (M4 tightening
torque: 2.5 N·m) Aft er tightening up the screws, check the concentricity again. Check it using a dial
test indicator or other such tool.
Adjusting the clearance of the stator and rotor
3
Before temporarily securing the rotor to the rotary-side installation surface, check that the rotor
magnetic surface does not contact the stator detection surface.
4
Adjust the concentricity of the rotor with the rotary shaft to 0.02 mm or less. Check the concentricity
using a dial test indicator or other such tool.
5
Temporarily secure the rotor to the rotary-side installation surface using the supplied nine M4 screws,
and adjust and check that the clearance between the stator detection surfaces and rotor magnetic
surface is within 0.14 ±0.03 mm.

Note
• Use the supplied plastic spacers for checking and adjusting the clearance. Use only the supplied spacers
and no others.
• Th
e rotor is made of aluminum so do not subject it to strong external forces. No guarantees for the
functions and performance of the rotary magnescale can be made if the rotor becomes deformed.
Installing the rotor
6
Secure the rotor by tightening up the screws that were temporarily secured in step 5. (M4 tightening
torque: 2.5 N·m) Aft er tightening up the screws, check the concentricity again. Check it using a dial
test indicator or other such tool.
