Cleaning the high current connection contacts

Regularly clean all contact points (current transfer

points) between the high current transformer, the

high-current cable, the high-current switch and the

magnetisation units.

1.  High current connection

2. Contact

Procedure

1.  Turn the machine off and secure it against being

  inadvertently turned on.
2. Release the connections on the high current cables.
3. Clean the contact surfaces with medium-fine steel

  wool until they are shiny.
4. Apply a thin layer of Tungrease VC563 contact

  grease to the contact surfaces.
5. Reconnect the cables.

Maintenance of the magnetising coil

Heavy contamination of the linear guides on the mag-

netising coil can lead to increased wear. Clean and

grease the guides regularly. If the coil is no longer run-

ning smoothly, replace the guides.

Lubricate the coil's drive chain regularly.

Prerequisites

•  Contact grease Tungrease VC563

•  Chain grease

•  A soft cloth and some industrial cleaner

Procedure

1.  Remove the workpiece from the machine.
2.  Move the coil into left-most position.
3.  Turn the machine off and secure it against being

  inadvertently turned on.
4.  Soak a soft cloth with industrial cleaner. Do not

  use acids or alkalines.
5.  Rub the guide shaft with the cloth down. Do not

  use metal tools for cleaning.
6.  Apply a thin coat of contact grease to the shaft
7.  Move the coil to the right-most position.
8.  Clean the rest of the guide shaft.

9.  Apply a thin coat of contact grease to the rest of

  the shaft
10. If present: grease the coil's drive chain using a

 brush.
11.  If necessary, tighten the drive chain at the chain

tensioner on the right side of the base frame.

Adjusting the safety clutch of the magnetisation coil

The safety clutch in the transport unit of the magnetisa-

tion coil fulfills an important safety function. The coil is

driven by an electric motor over the workpiece; if any

part of the body gets caught between the workpiece

and the coil, the safety clutch disconnects the drive.

1.  Drive motor for coil transport

2.  Screws of the motor housing cover

3.  Safety clutch.

Procedure

1.  Turn the machine off and secure it against being

  inadvertently turned on.
2. Open the chain drive housing. Undo the 4 screws

  and remove the cover.
3. Check the adjustment of the clutch and adjust if

 necessary.
4. Replace the cover and close the drive housing.
5. Check the function of the clutch. The safety clutch

should disconnect the drive if it encounters even a

  small amount of resistance.
