(1) Replacing Fuel filter element
Fuel filter

Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.
To help prevent possible injury, turn the key switch off when changing fuel filters or
water separator elements. Clean up fuel spills immediately.
Warning

Do not allow dirt to enter the fuel system. Thoroughly clean the area around a fuel
system component that will be disconnected. Fit a suitable cover disconnected fuel
system component. Do not fill the new filter with fuel. Invisible fine contaminants
can enter the injection pump and it may cause damage to the fuel injection system.
Caution
Stop the engine and set a clean container under
the fuel filter, and disconnect the electric wire
from the fuel filter.
Remove the fuel filter sensor and drain fuel in the
fuel filter.
Turn the housing counter-clockwise to remove
the filter assembly from the filter flange.
Turn the cover counter-clockwise to remove it
from the housing.
Replace the filter element, O-ring, and gasket
with a new one.
Assemble the cover to the housing.
Assemble the filter assembly to the filter flange.
Assemble the fuel filter sensor and connect the
electric wire to the fuel filter sensor.
Bleed air from the fuel filter.
