Most TV productions are broadcast in 4:3
picture format at present. This matches the
picture format of most TV sets. However,
productions are also broadcast in 16:9
format. There are then black bands at the
top and bottom of the screen. In TV sets
with 16:9 picture format it is possible to
get this broadcast to fill up the whole
screen. You can adapt your TV picture to
various transmission formats. Pay attention
to the correct picture geometry.
Selecting the picture format
Press the Picture functions button
until the last but one line of the picture
functions is marked in grey.
You can switch to format 4:3, Cinema 1,
Cinema 2, Zoom, 16:9 or ext. 16:9 picture
format with the Contrast buttons

. You can set "Cinema" for super
cinemascope films for example, the black
bands at the top and bottom of the picture
then disappear.
Subtitles on the film displayed in 4:3 format
may no longer be visible in Zoom or
Cinema. In this case you can move the
picture up or down with the blue buttons

It is best to use peoples’ faces as a basis
for adjusting the colour.

This fucntion can be used to adjust the
tinting slightly to red or blue.
Press the Colour functions button

<Tint> is marked in white.
Blue tint with

This colour adjustment is particularly
effective when receiving a station with the
NTSC norm.
