6.2 First start-up
Notice attached operating instructions for temperature programmer, safety
controller and all options.
1. Turn main switch right to position "1".
(control bulb "Netz ein" ( mains on ) lights.
2. Open cooling water flow until control bulb "Wasser" ( water ) lights.
3. Check if "Störung" (failure) button lights. If so, reset the failure on program
controller.
Read section Special Operating Instructions in case bulb still lights after pressing
the button
4. Drying at low temperature
Switch on heating and heat furnace to 500°C, maintain temperature for approx. 3
hours.
The process effects expelling of chemically bound water in the graphite insulation
and removes volatile binder components. The purging gas must be switched on at
the process so that there is no more oxygen atmosphere in the furnace chamber.
(graphite insulation)
5. Drying at high temperature
Having finished drying at low temperature, heat up system to
1200 °C
with a
200
°C / h
gradient. Maintain temperature for 2
–3 hours. Switch furnace off.
The purging gas must
The purging gas must be switched on at the process so that there is no more
oxygen atmosphere in the furnace chamber. (graphite insulation)
System is now ready for designated application.
Note that reactions of binder components can occur during the first 3 - 4 operating
hours above 1200°C.
Heat furnace to maximum temperature before first process to achieve a life
time of heating elements.
