Manually installing the device drivers (if necessary)
The hardware device driver is the software component of the TM4 system that talks
directly to the CNC Controller hardware. While some computer operating systems will
automatically install the driver using Plug-n-Play, in some cases the device driver must
be installed manually. It can be done in just a few minutes.
• If, for some reason, the device drivers for the Torchmate CNC
Controller are not installed, you can install them manually.
• When the CNC Controller is plugged in, its USB cable is connected,
and it is turned on, then the computer will automatically check for the
necessary device drivers.
• If a warning is displayed saying that device drivers need to be
installed, you can install them manually.
• Go to the Start menu and right-click on Computer or My Computer .
Then select Manage .
• Select the Device Manager from the left menu in the Computer
Management screen. Look under either Universal Serial Bus
Controllers , or Other Devices .
• Click the [+] to expand the listings of devices.
• Select the USB Signal Generator 501A.
• Right-click on this and select Update driver . This will begin the driver
install process.
• Select Install from list or specific location , then click Next .
• Select Search for the best driver in these locations .
• Check Include this location in the search .
• Select Browse .
• Navigate to: C:\Program Files\Torchmate 4\Drivers\USB
Note: for 64-bit driver software, browse your distribution USB
Flash Drive (or CD) for the 64 Bit Drivers folder.
• Click Next .
• Select Continue Anyway if you receive a warning about Windows
testing. The Device Manager will confirm that the driver has
successfully installed.
• Click Finish to close the installer.
